Abstract
This paper presents the results of studying the soil cover of the altitudinal belts of the Khibiny Mountains within the Polar–Alpine Botanical Garden–Institute. The soil cover consists of natural, mainly alfehumic soils and soils transformed during construction or the creation of favorable conditions for introduced species. The Botanical Garden is in the impact zone of apatite–nepheline plants and nonferrous metallurgy plants. This results in the accumulation of a number of elements, including heavy metals and metalloids (Ni, Cu, Pb, As, Zn, V, and Sr), in the upper soil layers.
