Assessing the Relative Interchangeability in Joints with Preload

Abstract

A method is proposed for the assembly of preloaded cylindrical joints on the basis of relative interchangeability. As shown in examples, this method permits the connection of shafts with a reparable defect and holes with an irreparable defect or the connection of shafts with an irreparable defect and holes with a reparable defect. By this method, the required joint accuracy with limiting preload is maintained.
