Abstract

IT has revolutionized every aspect of human life. Today business pace is far faster and bears different dimension than earlier. Markets and customer expectations are shifting fast so putting pressure on transport logistics in big way. This is causing evolving of complex supply chain models as number of stakeholders have increased so is their expectation. In this context three (Aberle in Transportwirtschaft: einzelwirtschaftliche und gesamtwirtschaftliche Grundlagen, Oldenbourg Wissenschaftsverlag GmbH, 4 edn, 2003) important outcomes are becoming clear which are characterize these changes and these outcomes are structure of the goods, the complex logistics outcome and the operational outcome. The first outcome refers to shift away from mass production towards customer want, which generates trend like excessive outsourcing, specialized production units and customization causing significant increase of shipping cost. The second outcome coupled along with heavy reliance on E Retailing is cause shift to road transport with demand on quality of service and timely delivery. The third outcome demanding team effort of rather competing logistics service providers to customer satisfaction/delightment.
