Abstract

The effect of combined surface hardening such as electromechanical treatment and surface plastic deformation exerted on inelastic deformation processes occurring in grade 45 steel has been studied. The results of tensile tests and the analysis of the mechanical hysteresis loops for samples of grade 45 steel subjected to combined surface hardening are presented. The characteristic features of the inelastic properties and microinhomogeneous deformation of steel samples are considered, depending on a regularly inhomogeneous structure of the hardened surface layer.
