Abstract
Computerized training simulators are a powerful tool to decrease the accident rate and improve process control effectiveness. The paper discusses the architectures of present-day training systems, describes the key features of their components, analyzes the content and main phases of a training simulator project and the requirements to its stakeholders. The focus is made on the application of training systems to adjacent process automation problems. Case studies presenting Honeywell’s experience in Russia are outlined, a short-term outlook is included.
