It is been a good year for the journal and we are looking forward to another great year in 2020. We launched a special issue in 2019, celebrating the life and scientific impact of Günter Blobel, one of our departed Editorial Board members. We intend to sponsor an additional special issue from symposia in 2020, as well as one or two focusing on a specific protein, that we hope you will find valuable. We are highlighting this issue with a timely review of coronavirus COVID-19 proteins and their structure and properties by Francis Yoshimoto.

In addition we’re going to change the cover photo of the printed journal in the next issue, which is a modern reflection of cell biochemistry and biophysics. Please look forward to seeing that issue in August of this year.

We again want to recognize the excellent reviewing by the many experts in the field of protein science; unfortunately, we cannot list their names due to proprietary issues. The editorial board members have been phenomenal, including advising on the relevance and suitability of a newly submitted articles to reviewing and adjudicating conflicting opinions on articles under review. Their input is invaluable to maintaining and continuing the high quality standards that we strive to attain.

Sincerely yours, Lawrence J. Berliner
