Wave Dynamics of River Water Quality

Abstract

A cyclic wave nature of variations in the composition and properties of river water, indicating the long-term memory effect in the corresponding time series, has been discovered. This effect lies in the fact that the current values of the parameters under control to a great extent depend on their former values. The relation of long-term memory and persistence to the Hurst exponent and fractals of the investigated series has been specified. The possibility for quantitative estimation of the long-term memory effect has been established for controlled water use.
