Characteristics of Hot Quark Matter with Neutrino Confinement

  • Published:
Astrophysics Aims and scope

The MIT quark bag model is used to determine the thermodynamic characteristics of hot strange quark matter that is opaque to neutrinos. Three different variants of the lepton content of hot quark matter are considered. The numerical calculations are done for different temperatures and lepton charge densities. It is shown that in hot (kT~100 MeV) quark matter there are roughly as many neutrinos as massive leptons, the total energy of the leptons is 4-20 percent of the energy of the quarks, and during cooling an energy on the order of 30-40 percent of the total energy is released.
