Architects, Urban Planners and Further Development of the 3D City Model Kassel

Abstract

In the last years, 3D city models have become an important topic in the Geoinformation Departments of many German cities. The city of Kassel began building such a database more than 10 years ago. The most important application area of the now quite extensive database is the support of urban development processes as well as a visually sustainable improvement in the preparation and integration of construction projects. Kassel relies on the three platforms “Desktop Scene” (exe-files), Online-Viewer and the output of analogue Haptic Models.

Zusammenfassung

Architekten, Stadtplaner und die Weiterentwicklung des 3D-Stadtmodells Kassel. 3D-Stadtmodelle sind in den vergangenen Jahren zu einem wichtigen Thema in den Geoinformationsabteilungen vieler deutscher Städte geworden. Die Stadt Kassel hat vor über 10 Jahren mit dem Aufbau eines solchen Datenbestands begonnen. Wichtigstes Einsatzgebiet des mittlerweile recht umfangreichen Datenbestands ist die Unterstützung von Stadtentwicklungsprozessen sowie eine visuell nachhaltige Verbesserung bei der Vorbereitung und Integration von Bauprojekten. Dabei setzt Kassel auf die drei Plattformen „Desktop-Szene “ (exe-Dateien), Online-Viewer sowie auf die Ausgabe analoger haptischer Modelle.
