Pitch-based carbon materials: a review of their structural design, preparation and applications in energy storage
2023, Xinxing Tan Cailiao/New Carbon MaterialsMethods for modifying needle coke raw materials by introducing additives of various origin (review)
2022, FuelCitation Excerpt :Analysis of the influence of different additives allows us to further explore the mechanism of carbonization and the formation of needle coke and as a consequence to expand the coking feedstock with the use of cheaper raw materials. Paper [56] studies the coking of synthetic pitch obtained by mixing brominated petroleum pitch and coal tar pitch in the presence of benzoyl chloride, with QI components previously removed from all fractions (α1- and α2-fractions) [39] The most important indicators are the bromination time of petroleum pitch (optimum 6 h) and the ratio of the raw material components (brominated petroleum pitch:coal tar pitch 1:9). The mechanism for modifying raw materials with bromine and chlorine is to intensify polycondensation reaction, which is described by the diagram in Fig. 11.
Improvement of the thermal properties of pitch by waste plastic (polyvinyl chloride) addition
2021, Journal of Materials Research and TechnologyCitation Excerpt :Cl radicals react with the side alkyl chain of aromatic rings to form chlorinated alkyl groups. These groups form methylene bridges by condensation reaction with active benzene rings, increasing the molecular weight (Fig. 7 (5)) [31]. This process was confirmed by the IR analysis results, in which the intensity of methyl groups increased as the PVC content increased (S1).
