Determination of the Size of the Focal Spot of a Microfocus Source of Hard Bremsstrahlung

Abstract

A new approach to determining the size of the focal spot of a microfocal source of hard radiation is presented. The approach is based on the analysis of an X-ray image of 13-μm-thick tantalum foil oriented along the cone axis of the hard radiation of a microfocus source. The experimental results obtained using a new microfocus source of bremsstrahlung created on the basis of an 18-MeV betatron with a narrow (13 μm) tantalum target inside are presented.
