Abstract
Combustion in Ti-B mixtures containing fine and coarse Ti particles was studied by XRD, SEM, and EDS. Two-stage SHS reaction in the system under study was found to yield a composite material with ordered non-uniformly scaled porosity. High uniformity of long-measuring green compacts was attained due to the use of layerwise ramming of green compacts in a rigid shell. The synthesized material with ordered porosity can find its application in designing SHS-produced filters, catalyst supports, and implants.
