Towards Practical Osmotic Energy Capture by a Layer-by-Layer Membrane

Recent development in membrane technology for capturing osmotic energy suggests significant performance enhancement due to nanoscale structured materials. A new article in Joule (Chen et al.) presents a bio-inspired layer-by-layer assembled composite membrane of aramid nanofibers and boron nitride nanosheets that demonstrates a major step towards practical osmotic energy harvesting.
