Measuring the Fractions of Quark and Gluon Jets in Hardon–Hadron Collisions Phys. Part. Nuclei (IF 0.4) Pub Date : 2024-03-11 S. G. Shulha, D. V. Budkovskii
Abstract In this paper, a method of measuring the fractions of quark and gluon jets originating from partons with a given flavor involved in a hard process partons (primary parton jets) is proposed. The sum of these fractions differs from unity by the fraction of jets containing the partons produced in the process of the parton shower (secondary parton jets).

Abstract We consider the propagation of polarized light in the medium with isotropic refraction index profile and show that polarization violates the additional symmetries of the medium. Then we suggest a scheme for the construction of polarization-dependent refraction index which restores all symmetries of the initial profile. We illustrate the proposed scheme on the examples of Luneburg and Maxwell’s

Abstract Fundamental properties of the position and spin operators in relativistic quantum mechanics are defined with the Poincaré group. Quantum-mechanical counterparts of the classical position and spin variables are the corresponding operators in the Foldy–Wouthuysen representation but not in the Dirac one. The probabilistic interpretation is valid only for Foldy–Wouthuysen wave functions. The relativistic

Abstract The hypothesis of gauge/gravity correspondence (or holographic duality) from string theory has led to unexpected and challenging ways for description of strongly coupled systems. Such descriptions are given in terms of weakly-coupled higher-dimensional gravitational theories. The holographic ideas have penetrated to many branches of physics. We discuss motivations for the so-called Soft Wall

Abstract We study the aspects of constructing the interactions for the higher spin fields in the framework of BRST approach. The main object of such an approach is BRST operator acting in the appropriate Fock space and building on the base of constraints that define the irreducible higher spin representations. In its turn, the constraints are divided into differential and purely algebraic or holonomic
