Abstract MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are generated in a cell endogenously which have a nucleotide length of 18 to 26 and are also known as short non-protein coding RNAs. The majority of them are evolutionarily conserved in nature, suggesting a logical foundation for the anticipation of new miRNAs in association with their clusters in numerous plants. Considering this study, physical, bioinformatics and efficient

Gene Silencing Using Artificial miRNA in Sugarcane Tropical Plant Biol. (IF 2.0) Pub Date : 2022-03-25 Ana Laura Garcia Leme Peres, Rafael Della Coletta, José Sérgio Soares, Marcelo Menossi
One of the most common ways to study gene function is to analyze loss-of-function mutants. In polyploid species, although gene redundancy presents some advantages in nature, it offers an extra obstacle for genetic analyses due to the difficulty of obtaining loss-of-function mutants. Sugarcane presents several alleles at the same locus and the strong interaction between them contribute to the variation

ROS act as an signaling molecule in the biological growth and development process. The homeostasis of ROS must be kept by different antioxidant defense mechanisms. Currently, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) as major antioxidant enzymes are not well understood in cassava (Manihot esculenta). In this research, 7 SODs, 6 CATs, and 6 APXs were identified from

Sugarcane cultivation area is exposed to irregular rainfall which leads to several water deficit events during crop development. The plants have the ability to promote physiological and morphological changes to face water deficit. It is probable that, in sugarcane, higher tolerance to recurrent water deficit events is caused by physiological adjustment after the first water deficit exposure. We tested

QTL Mapping and Expression Analysis of Candidate Genes for Salt and Drought Tolerance in Corchorus capsularis Seedlings Tropical Plant Biol. (IF 2.0) Pub Date : 2021-07-07 Aminu Kurawa Ibrahim, Yi Xu, Sylvain Niyitanga, Muhammad Zohaib Afzal, Lilan Zhang, Liemei Zhang, Jianmin Qi, Liwu Zhang
Jute is an essential fibrous crop worldwide. However, salt- and drought-induced stresses affect its production. The complex inheritance for such traits makes Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) detection cumbersome when using the approach to understand and improve the plant’s tolerance to these stresses. There is a need to identify the underlying mechanistic events under these stress conditions at the seedling
