An ICT-based fluorescent probe for the detection of fluoride ions in cellular mitochondria

A novel colorimetric fluorescent probe Mito-PF was constructed base on ICT strategy, which showed a 30-fold enhancement of fluorescence intensity toward fluoride ion (F) with excellent sensitivity and high selectivity. The response of the probe to fluoride ion is ascribed to the cleavage reaction of Sisingle bondO bond, then releases fluorescent group with intense green fluorescence signals realizing turn-on fluorescence responses. Probe Mito-PF shows good cell membrane permeability and can be successfully located in mitochondria to monitor fluoride ion in living cells, which is of great significance for biological research and clinical diagnostic.
