Most of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) drug approvals have taken place in the past 7 years. Although metastatic melanoma still remains a frequently fatal disease, a large proportion of patients can now be anticipated to respond to therapy. Furthermore, a significant subset of patients can experience long-term remissions through the application of various treatment approaches.
