Missions to Mars in the coming decades are likely to require local production of fuel, breathable air, and fertilizer. In this issue of Chem, Kelly and co-workers use microwave plasma to co-produce oxygen and NOx for fertilizer with high energy efficiency under simulated conditions corresponding to those on the Perseverance rover.
