Abstract

The genus Toxotiformis gen. nov. is established for the species venustus Lazarenko, 1968, previously assigned to the genus Toxotis Wallerius, 1895. This species occurs in the transitional Middle–Upper Cambrian upper slope deposits of the Kulyumbe River stratotype section (northwest of the Siberian Platform). Five new species are described from the Middle Cambrian deposits including basin facies: T. artus (Khos-Nelege and Kotuy rivers), T. ventosus (Olenek and Kerbi rivers), T. nelegensis (Khos-Nelege River), and T. kotuyensis and T. tuberculosus (Kotuy River). Some species are based on specimens that were previously ascribed to venustus. No representatives of the genus Toxotis are found in the Siberian Platform and adjacent territories.
