Herein we described one kind of versatile reagents, N-thiohydroxy succinimide esters (NTSEs), serving as both acyl and acylthio surrogates for the diverse synthesis of ketones, thioesters, amides, and acyl disulfides by selective cleavage of similarly reactive C–S and N–S bonds.
