Early this Spring, while we were making notes for our editorial, we were taken aback by Russia’s unprovoked attack on the Ukrainian democracy in Eastern Europe. Immediately, we moved our initial notes aside and began reviewing the first reports of early devastation already being reported on in art news, including the destruction of 25 paintings by Ukrainian folk artist Maria Prymachenko, along with a small museum that contained them.
