If you haven't already registered, there's still time to join your colleagues at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference^® (AAIC) 2022. At AAIC, the globe's leading basic scientists, clinical researchers, early career investigators, clinicians, and members of the care research community share discoveries about Alzheimer's disease (AD) and dementia prevention, treatment, diagnosis, and more. The world's largest gathering dedicated to advancing dementia science, AAIC will take place July 31–August 4 in San Diego, CA, USA, with a virtual option as well.

AAIC is the perfect networking and educational event for individuals at all career stages—from those just beginning their careers to seasoned professionals. Revised this year are the Alzheimer's Association International Society to Advance Alzheimer's Research and Treatment (ISTAART) workshops, where attendees can choose from among five zones in a single room, with each zone addressing a specific topic: funding, publishing, research skills, career development, and patient and public involvement in research. Geared to students and postdoctoral researchers, the lunchtime workshops will take place from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. PT August 1–3 and are organized by ISTAART and the ISTAART Professional Interest Area (PIA) to Elevate Early-Career Researchers (PEERs).

Also new this year is the Clinical Day of Focus—Monday, August 1—featuring dedicated sessions on blood tests, the latest in clinical trials, risk reduction, and more. In addition, throughout the week, clinicians can expand their knowledge with Clinical Pearls, sessions that are most applicable to the diagnosis and management of Alzheimer's and other dementias in a clinical practice setting. Clinicians can conclude their AAIC experience on Thursday, August 4, by attending a closing panel discussion highlighting an overview of the conference, including key takeaways for clinicians.

For basic science researchers, AAIC offers Emerging Concepts in Basic Science, sessions that put a spotlight on new areas of scientific discovery and basic science advances. Taking place Monday, August 1, Emerging Concepts will explore three topics: (1) Why and how the entorhinal cortex acts as an Alzheimer's anatomic source—why Alzheimer's begins in one part of the brain and how it spreads to other parts of the brain; (2) Metabolic dysregulation in AD—including insulin signaling and insulin resistance, systemic factors that contribute to neurodegeneration, and potential lifestyle actions that may intervene in dysregulation; and (3) Contributions of phase separation to neurodegenerative disease—how liquid-liquid phase separation contributes to disease, how it might contribute to tauopathies, and how the design of tools to modulate phase separation are being used as an approach for disease therapy. The Emerging Concepts panel discussion will take place Tuesday afternoon, August 2.

Prior to the official start of AAIC are numerous workshops and preconferences. For example, the annual Alzheimer's Imaging Consortium, Technology and Dementia Preconference, and PIA Day will take place Saturday, July 30.
