Using α-cyanotetrahydroisoquinolines as the starting materials, a TBN/O2 initiated C(sp3)−H bond multifunctionalization was developed, realizing the construction of the isoquinolin-1-one skeleton. This work revealed that the functionalization of the relatively inert C−H bond could be induced by a radical C−H activation relay (CHAR) process.
