Background: Autogenous soft tissue graft (ASTG) contributes to mid-facial soft tissue stability following both periodontal and peri-implant plastic surgical reconstruction. The wound at the palatal donor site where the ASTGs are harvested is frequently associated with patient discomfort.

Aim/Hypothesis: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of advanced-platelet rich fibrin (A-PRF) and concentrated growth factor (CGF) on palatal wound healing after ASTG harvest.

Material and Methods: A total of 24 patients were randomized after ASTG; Group 1 (n = 8): A-PRF membrane, Group 2 (n = 8): CGF membrane, and Group 3 (n = 8): sterile wet gauze compression were placed over the palatal wounds. Patients were assessed at 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks after surgery for bleeding, postoperative discomfort, re-epithelialization, sensation scores, changes in feeding habits and the consumption of analgesics.

Results: Statistically significant improvements were found for all parameters in the Groups 1 and 2 compared with Group 3 (p < 0.001), but there was no significant difference between groups 1 and 2 (p > 0.05).

Conclusion and Clinical implications: The A-PRF and CGF palatal bandage may significantly benefit palatal wound healing and decrease the patients’ morbidity.
