Estimation of Statistical Characteristics of Antenna Arrays with Axial Symmetry under Condition of Small Phase Errors

Abstract

The method for estimating statistical characteristics of radiation field, amplitude-phase distribution, and correlation function of phase errors of arbitrary aperture antennas is presented. It is convenient for analyzing the statistics of antenna arrays with axial symmetry. The main mean and fluctuation characteristics within the direct external problem of statistical antenna theory are determined on the example of cylindrical circular antenna array. The estimation of the mean power radiation pattern, main lobe direction fluctuation of array, and comparison with the known results are carried out. We show that according to the estimated statistical characteristics, circular cylindrical arrays occupy an intermediate position between linear and circular ones.
