  • Patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) may require a coronary angiogram in about 3% of cases at 1 year, but this rate increases to 16% at 4.5 years of follow-up.
  • However, among TAVI patients who undergo pre-procedural percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary angiogram is usually performed in 9% of cases at 1 year and this rate increases to 28% at 4.5 years of follow-up.
  • Whenever possible, commissural alignment techniques should be implemented during TAVI to facilitate future coronary artery access.
