Structural Enhancement under X-ray Irradiation in an Octanuclear Uranium-Based 3D Metal–Organic Framework

An octanuclear uranyl-mediated three-dimensional metal–organic framework, UNITK-1 ((UO2)42-OH)(μ3-OH)3(C13H10N2O4)2·4H2O) has been synthesized hydrothermally using a recently developed pyrozolylbenzenedicarboxylate ligand. The first observation of structural enhancement through X-ray irradiation has also been investigated. This particular effect, in the current study, involving X-rays needs further investigation to extend the scope and applicability of actinide complexes toward the future development of new materials.
