The synergistic influences of particle stimulated nucleation (PSN)-assisted dynamic recrystallisation (DRX), second-phase particles and texture on corrosion behaviour of hard-plate hot forged Mg-Zn-Ca-Mn alloy are studied in Kirkland’s bio-corrosion medium. The particle-matrix interfaces and grain boundaries are more anodic and act as effective sites for corrosion initiation and insoluble corrosion product layer formation. Consequently, the uniform and compact product layer is formed in the specimen with higher DRX fraction, uniform particle distribution and smaller deformed grains. The uniform corrosion product layer and higher basal texture intensity lowered the pH change, hydrogen evolution and corrosion rate during the long-term immersion test.
