The O(g.s.)16+8Be(g.s.) structure of the ground state of 24Mg nucleus has been probed experimentally using direct knockout reaction Mg24(O16,216O)8Be in the quasi free scattering kinematics domain. The direct 16O-cluster knockout finite range prediction indicates a fair amount of O(g.s.)16+8Be(g.s.) component in the Mg(g.s.)24.
