Improvements in surgical techniques, anti-infectives, and immunosuppression have enabled liver transplant recipients to enjoy longer and healthier lives. Thanks to such advances, the pediatric transplant community has shifted expectations for allograft and patient survival from years to decades. Developing strategies for lifelong post-transplant care remains a considerable challenge as optimal outcomes require continually balancing allograft and patient health.
