Gareth Leng retired in June 2021, after a long and distinguished career in neuroendocrinology and physiology that included over 25 years of service at the University of Edinburgh as Professor of Experimental Physiology. I have had the pleasure of working with Gareth during his time at Edinburgh and the honour of organising a Festschrift, to be held on August 11^th and 12^th, 2022 in Edinburgh, to celebrate his contribution to our community.
