Density, Viscosity, and Refractive Index Measurements for Binary Mixtures of N-Methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), Diethanolamine (DEA), and 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) with 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium Acetate ([Emim][Ac])

Thermophysical properties such as density (ρ), dynamic viscosity (η), and refractive index (nD) of three binary liquid mixtures comprising alkanolamines N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), diethanolamine (DEA), and 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) with ionic liquid (IL) 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate ([Emim][Ac]) were measured under atmospheric pressure, at T = 293.15–333.15 K with 10 K intervals over the whole concentration range. [Emim][Ac] is an ionic liquid with imidazolium cation and acetate anion, which has been nominated for use in various industries due to its unique properties. Obtained data show that all thermophysical properties of pure systems, as well as the binary systems, decreased with increasing temperature; however, the effect of concentration on the thermophysical properties is different for three binary mixtures and has a nonuniform trend similar to the effect of temperature. The experimental results showed that the temperature and concentration have a significant effect on the thermophysical properties of solutions investigated in this work. Therefore, to describe all thermophysical properties as a function of temperature and concentration simultaneously, suitable empirical correlations were used. Finally, using the measured data, excess molar volumes (VE), thermal expansion coefficients (α), dynamic viscosity deviations (Δη), and excess refractive indices (nDE) for the binary mixtures were computed and were correlated using the Redlich–Kister equation.
