Tunable photoluminescence of CdTe QDs through the modification of polyoxometalates

Abstract

A series of POMs/CdTe nanocomposites were successfully synthesized by the combination of CdTe quantum dots (QDs) with different polyoxometalates (POMs) PW12, PMo12, SiW12, and SiW9. These nanocomposites based on CdTe QDs exhibited tunable photoluminescence properties due to the influence of the POMs. In particular, PW12/CdTe showed obvious emission shifts from a wavelength of 666 nm to 672 nm by control of the CdTe:PW12 molar ratio. Due to the electron acceptance ability of POMs, a new method was found to control the light emission from QDs. Furthermore, the strategy reported in this work can be applied to bioimaging, fluorescent probes, light-emitting diodes, and photodetectors.
