Waste not, want not: Oxidative N-formylation of amines to formamides by sustainable C2 and C3 biomass-based carbonyl sources such as glycolic acid, 1,3-dihydroxyacetone and glyceraldehyde is catalyzed by very few CuII single sites in zeolite 5A with unprecedented 100 % utilization efficiency of carbon atoms.
