Recently, with the development of optically induced artificial magnetism, the Kerker effect has attracted renewed interest in various branches of nanophotonics. Here, we extend this effect into the acoustic system and present a rigorous analytical model for discussing the generalized Kerker conditions related to directional forward or backward scattering. A two-dimensional cylindrical acoustic Mie resonator with subwavelength scale is used as an example. Numerical simulations agree well with the generalized Kerker conditions related on the directional scatterings. The proposed concepts could encourage more comprehensive investigations on the Kerker effect in other fields, such as elastic waves, water waves.
