This cover picture shows the design and synthesis of N-heterocyclic carbenes bearing a nido-C₂B₉ carborane ligand as the backbones. In this work, gold(I) complex was prepared to prove the imidazolium salts could serve as carbene ligands and the computational analyses revealed high-lying lone pair orbitals of these ligands, predicting their strong σ–donating abilities.
