Experimental research on applicability of weathered red sandstone soil to roadbed filling

The weathered red sandstone soil is seen with extreme strength reduction after encountering water. With an aim to evaluate the long-term stability of the weathered red sandstone soil as the roadbed filler, laboratory experiments are carried out for soil stabilised with cement dosages of 0%, 3%, 4%, and 5%, respectively. Meanwhile, the compressive rebound modulus and the unconfined compressive strength of the cement-stabilised soil are measured after 0–7 cycles of wetting and drying, respectively. Besides, scanning electron microscope (SEM) is used to observation and quantitative analyse. The testing results shows that the strength attenuation laws of stabilised soils with different cement dosages after wetting and drying cycles. Moreover, this study proposes the technical standard for cement-stabilised red sandstone soil used as roadbed filler.
