Pockets of vulnerable communities located in the US Gulf Coast live out a curious existence, experiencing diseases, environmental disruptions, healthcare access challenges, and quality of life characteristic of the Global South. The persistent lack of access to goods and services available in other parts of the US hinders these individuals' consumption adequacy. Thus, policymakers have an opportunity to develop impactful solutions informed by a nuanced understanding of the challenges to these consumers' welfare.
