All-optical repetition rate stabilization methods for ultrafast Yb-based SESAM mode-locked fiber oscillator

We demonstrate optical to radio frequency (RF) locking technique using all-fiber phase shifter. Phase shift at 1030 nm was achieved by pumping Er-doped fiber incorporated in the resonator. Pump induced refractive index change was fast enough to stabilize optical pulse repetition rate of ultrafast Yb-doped fiber oscillator and achieve sub-200 fs timing jitter. We also investigate the source of phase noise in soliton fiber oscillators and provide guidelines how to further reduce timing jitter.
