In the current issue of Diseases of Esophagus, Pucher et al.1 present a Consensus report (HERO) on standardizing the histopathological reporting of oesophago-gastrectomy resection specimens. The author’s list represents experts and colleagues from prestigious institutions of both surgery and histopathology, in the UK. Although not all the stakeholders (oncologists, epidemiologists, nurses, and patients representatives) were involved and some issues are not explored, the consensus is well focused on the histopathology assessment of surgical specimen and it helps surgeons and pathologists to understand their complex codes of communication and to agree on proper quality indicators.
