A Hybrid AUSM Scheme (HAUS) for Multi-phase Flows with All Mach Numbers

A new numerical flux scheme is proposed for compressible multi-phase flows at all Mach numbers. The hybrid AUSM-family scheme (HAUS) combines various AUSM-type schemes. HAUS is facilitated by reconstructing the mass flux term present in AUSM-family schemes such as AUSMPW, SLAU-type, and AUSM+ up, and subsequently rebuilding the pressure flux term. Numerical validations are performed under various conditions from hypersonic compressible to low Mach incompressible flow regimes using the homogeneous mixture model equation with the proposed scheme. Various numerical validation problems demonstrate that the HAUS is both accurate and stable for all speed ranges of single and multi-phase flows.
