related to the architectural and geophysical surveys, integrates the previous research and concludes the first section of the book. The second section is dedicated to the study of the materials found during the archaeological expeditions. Remains include artefacts made of ceramic, metal, glass and a sculpture fragment of a marble snake. All these elements are carefully described and related chronologically to the site stratigraphies. A wide range of analytical techniques were used to understand chemical characteristics, the state of conservation, and provenance of mortars, bricks and ceramics to corroborate the hypothesis of the archaeological study, and make available useful data for possible conservation interventions. Finally, a short chapter refers to archeozoological data, which enriches the awareness of recent historical phases when a portion of the site was used as a rural farm. Particularly significant is the substantial collection of graphic material ─ explanatory plans, sections and elevations achieved by integrating topographic and photogrammetric surveys ─ included in the book, allowing specialists and non-specialists to better understand geometries, materiality and phases of the main building. Although the area included in the municipalities of Cefalà Diana and Villafrati has attracted the attention of academics and historians for a long time, a cross-disciplinary study comprising contributions from different fields has never been achieved before. Therefore, the work of Alessandra Bagnera and Annliese Nef represents a unique example of multidisciplinary cooperation that brings together rigorous use of historical sources, accurate observations carried out on the ground and a set of various scientific investigations. Similar successful collaborations are critical for creating a substantial level of awareness to be used for further investigations: new data could, and should, come from future excavation campaigns on this site and, possibly, across the whole of Sicily.
