Chromatic orthogonality is defined as the possibility of independently addressing different photosensitive sites using light beams of different colors. After its initial study in synthetic chemistry, this property has been applied in many other fields, such as lithography, chemical biology and catalysis. This short account gives an overview of some of the significant work in the field in the last two decades.
