Nanocomposites of nickel-aluminum hydrotalcite and boehmite decorated with Pt nanoparticles were prepared and evaluated for catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde at room temperature, and the one with Ni/Al molar ratio of 1 : 9 (Pt/Ni1Al9) exhibited remarkable and stable activity. The mechanism of catalytic oxidation was elucidated based on experimental and characterization results.
