In the feature article, “A Snapshot of Water and Sewer Affordability in the United States, 2019,” by Manuel P. Teodoro and Robin Rose Saywitz, which appeared in the August 2020 issue of Journal AWWA (Vol. 112, No. 8, p. 10), a data input/coding error led to inaccurate estimates of non-water essential expenses. Consequently, values reported in the article are incorrect. Most notably, the percent of disposable income that low-income households must spend for water and sewer services was incorrect. As a result of this error, there are updates to Figures 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7, as well as to Table 1, as well as updates to points throughout the text.
