Abstract

The problem of scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave incident on a circular perfectly conducting cylinder along its axis is considered. The cylinder is bounded by half-spheres on the ends. The hybrid method is used for the solution of the problem. This method combines the method of eigenfunctions, the method of successive diffractions, and the equivalence principle. The results of calculation of the scattering pattern are compared using two variants of the hybrid method, the method of moments, and the Huygens—Fresnel—Kirchhoff method.
