Preliminary experimental study of a positioning system using multiple radiation spectroscopy detectors

For detector of a radiation source, a system for radiation positioning using radiation spectroscopy detectors was constructed. This method can be used to measure a two-dimensional position using three detectors. For this, a basic system was constructed using three scintillation crystals and three optical sensors. The error between the actual position and the calculated position of the radiation source was evaluated. The calculated position was measured using an algorithm for radiation positioning measurement, which measures the radiation emitted from each position of detectors. A picture with coordinates was used to designate the exact location of the radiation source. In addition, the location of the radiation source was calculated using the radiation count measured at each location. As a result of measuring the error, the average error was 2.23% at position X and 3.26% at position Y. This basic experiment provides basic data for the system configuration when developing a system that can quickly detect a radiation source. This can be done without using a collimator when a system is constructed using radiation spectroscopy detectors.
