Persistent currents in the presence of the radial electric fields of charged rods and off-centre positively and negatively charged impurities

ABSTRACT

In the present works, we numerically study the persistent current of a quantum ring systems in the presence of charged rods and impurities. Effects of inner ring radius, ring thickness, negatively and positively charged rods radial electric fields, charged rod position, donor and acceptor impurities, and their positions, on the persistent current have been thoroughly investigated. In addition, in order to study the effect of electron localisation strength around the impurity on the persistent current, we have used a screened impurity potential. We show that the delocalisation of the electron leads to increasing the persistent current. By using the mentioned geometry as well as the charged impurity and rods, the tuning of the persistent current, energy levels and the corresponding eigenfunctions is now possible.
