Steel Choice for Fabricating Welded L80 Grade Tubing Pipes

Abstract

Nine different chemical formulations of steel for fabricating welded tubing pipes have been elaborated for conducting laboratory tests. Tests of pilot rolled steel products are conducted. The hardenability and through-hardening of all of the tested modifications are evaluated by gradient quenching. The cooling rates at the hardening with variable drawing-back temperatures are modeled for evaluating the influence of thermal treatment on the mechanical performance of rolled steel. The optimal chemical composition and the thermal treatment parameters, which ensure the attainment of the set of mechanical properties of L80 grade, are determined.
