IATEFL has 16 Special Interest Groups (SIGs; see below for a list of all SIGs) and individual membership of IATEFL includes one SIG, though members can purchase membership of additional SIGs and institutions can purchase memberships as well. SIGs are an integral part of IATEFL, administered by Head Office, but dependent for their initiation and continued existence on volunteers, mainly one or two Coordinators and a committee. The SIG Representative on the Board of Trustees, who is elected by the SIG Coordinators from among the group, liaises between SIGs and IATEFL Trustees.
